As
founder of Crown & Glory Enterprises, designers and manufacturers of
creative high-end wigs, Amy Gibson has become the leading personal Hair
Loss Consultant in the country for women afflicted with hair loss. Her personal
passion for the topic comes from her own hair loss at the age of 13 due
to alopecia areata (a common autoimmune disease that attacks the hair follicles
and causes baldness). As her acting career was taking off (“Love of
Life,” “The Young and The Restless,” “General Hospital”)
she came down with the bald spots common to the condition. But, after stopping
the 15 years of treatment, Amy suddenly lost all of her hair within 3 weeks,
just 5 weeks prior to starting a major role on General Hospital.
The frustrations Gibson experienced in not having anyone to talk to,
or show her exactly how to deal with wigs early in her life is what propelled
her into taking action for others. After attending support groups for
her own peace of mind, women began gravitating towards Amy urging her
to show them all the ways to handle living with baldness, and to assist
them in making their wigs look as real as hers.
“I don’t sell anything I can’t wear”--Amy’s
intention behind everything that she does centers on “helping women
feel and look complete from the inside out.” Her breakout line of
“The First Women’s Swim Wig” for all
water sports and working out, and “The First Women’s
Intimacy Wig” for those special moments, along with her
full line of innovative wigs that come with eye glass loops and scarf
loops are revolutionary. Her upcoming coordinating makeup line
is the first of its kind to assist women in matching the correct lip,
cheek and eye color to their particular wig hair color.
Her “R Secret” Bag has been devised to carry
all the goodies needed to keep one’s wig looking fresh for those
“spontaneous” times when on the run, during a date or for
last minute traveling. In believing that “Beauty Has No
Boundaries,” Gibson breaks new ground by being the first Caucasian
woman in history to bring a fresh look and wonderful alternatives to women
of color with her unique line of wigs featuring CyberHair, due out in
the fall of ’06.
Most recently, Gibson has been referred to as “A woman on quite
a crusade”, attracting the media to her story and her plight for
women, such as “The Today Show”, “Eye On LA”,
“Fox Nightly News,” “KNBC Nightly News,” “KTLA
News,” “Good Day LA,” “The Insider,” “The
Tyra Banks Show” and has been highlighted in “People Magazine”,
“Woman’s World” and “The Los Angeles Daily News.”
Gibson is also the top Female Hair Loss Consultant and only wig consultant
for the widely popular WEBMD.com and Cancer Consultants.com. Gibson continues
on her mission to assist women in need all over the world while creating
progressive product lines and the tools necessary to help rebuild their
self esteem and confidence.
By 2007, approximately 500 stores in the U.S. will be carrying Amy’s
Presence and her line of originative products and services.
